GREER, ARIZONA AND SOUTH FORK CANYON "A
               Time Remembered...A Place Enjoyed"

Looking for a beautiful, quaint, hospitable, quiet retreat? The tiny mountain hamlet of Greer is the answer to your year-round recreational dreams. Greer is nestled in a remote mountain valley just five miles south of Arizona 260 at the 8,525 foot level. South Fork, just 5 miles down the road, is located in a wooded horseshoe canyon with majestic cliffs and tall pines.

Spring is the time to relax and reflect, admire the wildflowers, hike or go horseback riding or fish along the streams. Observing the quiet, yet exciting beauty of the awakening of the hills, forest streams and even skies as you watch the birds fly north, is enough to give anyone a fresh outlook on life.

Summer is relaxing and exhilarating in the high country. It brings a chance to fish on the streams or in the beaver dams on the East, West and South Forks of the Little Colorado River which runs through and connects both communities. Some fishermen prefer the Greer Lakes which are famous for large German Browns. Camping, hiking, horseback riding, bird watching, kite flying, nature walks and scenic drives also await you. Summertime temperatures rarely exceed 76 degrees.

Fall often brings an Indian Summer extending into late October. Fishing, hunting (deer, elk, turkey and antelope), hiking, horseback riding, berry picking, camping, photography, bird watching, nature walks and scenic drives are all enhanced by the grandeur of the golden autumn. Many days are "shirt sleeve" weather with nights being cooler and crisper.

Winter offers backpacking, ice skating, ice fishing, sleigh rides, snowmobile, sledding, tubing and an old fashioned White Christmas. If downhill skiing is your preference, Greer and South Fork are the closest communities to the Sunrise Ski Resort. Save 1 hour daily driving time to Sunrise!

Greer, in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service has developed 35 miles of cross-country trails. This sport boasts economy, no lift lines, exercise, beautiful scenery and, if desired, total privacy.

Lessons and equipment are available. Greer and South Fork also offer complete services for your comfort and enjoyment including lodging, fine dining, stores, museums, stables and much more. Come experience the quiet side of the Mountain!
