Economic Activities
Tourism and recreation are the foundation of the economy
of Show Low. Due to its size and location, the community serves as a
regional trade and services center for southern Navajo County and portions
of southern Apache County. It is also an entry point for visitors to the
White Mountain recreation areas.
Wholesale concerns include lumber companies, concrete
plants, and bottled gas firms. Navajo County business offices and regional
headquarters and Navapache Regional Medical Center, a regional trauma
hospital, are maintained in Show Low.
Most Show Low manufacturing employment is in the forest
products industry. Stone Container Forest Industries Paper Mill, Arizona's
only pulp and paper mill, is located northwest of Show Low and is the
area's largest employer. Show Low also has a molding mill, machine shop
and pellet mill. The city, a designated Enterprise Zone as well as an
active Main Street City, runs a business incubator area, an industrial
park and operated the regional Show
Low Municipal Airport. The City has no property tax.
