In many snowbound locations, snowmobiles become the most reliable form of travel, a certain way of reaching a destination automobiles simply can't reach. Snow machines also are integral for many tasks, from feeding cattle to ski resort maintenance. Ice fishermen favor them for reaching distant lakes; cross-country skiers use them to set trails. But by far the most frequent use is for just plain fun, the sheer delight of cruising through forests in winter, of reaching distant places no one else can go.
